Please note that this is no Crassula, but a Stapelia.
It makes very large hairy, purple-brown, starfish-like flowers although my motherplant still hasn't flowered yet. This species seems to flower less
easy than her little sister Stapelia hirsuta.
The flowers spread a carrion odour that you can only smell when your nose is near the flower.
This odour attracts flies that have to take care of the pollination of the flower. See picture below.
Her name says it all: the flowers can be really big, up to 15cm in diameter!
Originally from South Africa. Grows up to 30cm tall and the stems are from 2 to 3cm wide.
Put the plant on a light spot but avoid burning sun during summer. In winter you should always keep the plant above 5 degrees Celsius.
